ROY HARGROVE
You may not be familiar with this Jazz trumpeter, but if you're a long time listener of jazz music the name will be of no surprise.
Hargrove was born in Waco, Texas, United States, he grew up in the seventies. The noted musician Wynton Marsalis visited Roy's high school and was so impressed by the talented youth that he asked Hargrove to sit in with his band.
Hargrove's Musical Achivement spans over a decade, including over a dozen albums and collaborations with other jazz greats like Oscar Peterson. He has worked with a list of contemporary artists such as Erykah Badu, and D'angelo on the Voodoo album. To date, Hargrove has worked with rappers Common and Q-Tip, on his latest work, The RH Factor : Hard Groove.
Hargrove made his major label debut at 21 for Novus, where he released the album "The Vibe" in 1992. He worked with Jazz musician Herbie Hancock and Michael Brecker in 2001.
They performed live showcases and released an album in 2002. "Directions in Music : Live at Massey Hall was released on the Universal record label. Roy has performed at numerous International Jazz Festivals including the Jazz Cafe in Camden, London UK.
